The Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) has been named the winner of the Professional Services category at the 2026 Western Australian State of Energy Export Awards.
Announced at the awards gala in Perth on Friday 9 October, the win recognises CODA alongside 12 other WA businesses celebrated for their success in international markets.
Established to help build a collaborative and sustainable decommissioning industry in Australia, CODA works across industry, government and research to support national capability, knowledge sharing and new opportunities for the sector.
While much of this work is focused on Australia’s offshore oil and gas decommissioning industry, the challenges and opportunities associated with decommissioning extend well beyond national borders. International collaboration is an important part of CODA’s work, helping connect Australian expertise with the knowledge, experience and developments shaping decommissioning in other markets.
For CODA, the award is meaningful recognition of the work of a small team and the broader network of organisations that contribute to its activities.
“I could not be prouder of the accomplishments of the team being recognised at the Western Australian export awards. Growing from a kernel of an idea back in 2019 to an independent peak body with over 180 partners across 5 continents, all delivered and supported by a small team of phenomenal humans has been quite the journey,” said CODA CEO Dr Francis Norman.
CODA’s work relies on the ongoing involvement and support of its partners and collaborators across industry, government and research. Their contributions help CODA bring organisations together, share knowledge and support the continued development of Australia’s decommissioning capability.
A special thank you goes to the CODA team, whose work underpins the organisation’s activities across its partnerships, projects and programs.
CODA would also like to thank Invest and Trade Western Australia for supporting and celebrating WA exporters through the awards program.
The win places CODA among this year’s WA Export Awards category winners, alongside organisations working across industries including manufacturing, technology, education, agribusiness and resources. CODA congratulates all winners and finalists, including fellow Professional Services finalists Naturaliste Charters and Orway IQ.
As the WA category winner, CODA will now progress as a finalist in the Australian Export Awards, facilitated by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
