Interested in Exploring a Career in Decommissioning?

Whether you are a student, a professional early in your career, or someone considering a career change, CODA’s Access Program offers two fully funded places to our Introduction to Decommissioning course, to help remove barriers and open opportunities for a broader range of participants.

The program reduces costs as an entry barrier by offering two fully funded places per course, supporting greater diversity, inclusion, and awareness in this rapidly growing field.

Applications will be invited ahead of each intake, with recipients selected by a panel based on their interest in decommissioning and the potential benefits of attending. Two funded places will be awarded for that course only, chosen from all applicants for that intake.

About the Course

This course presents an introduction to the decommissioning lifecycle from late life planning through to execution and end state, with a particular focus on the offshore environment. It covers key areas such as legislation and the regulatory regime, environmental considerations, asset management, project planning and execution, wells decommissioning, recycling and disposal, financial reporting, and cost estimation as well as existing, and upcoming opportunities and challenges.

The course is offered in-person only and will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from and connect with presenters who are experts across a range of decommissioning specialist areas.

What’s Included
  1. Full access to all course modules, activities, and presentations
  2. Catering throughout the two-day program
  3. Certificate of attendance
(Please note: travel and accommodation not included)

Who Should Apply

The CODA Access Program is open to anyone in Australia with an interest in decommissioning and the ability to attend the course in Perth.

We particularly encourage applications from:

  • Individuals from underrepresented groups in the energy sector
  • Students and graduates in relevant disciplines
  • Professionals seeking to transition into decommissioning from other areas of the energy sector or beyond

Successful applicants will be those who demonstrate a genuine interest in decommissioning and how the course could support their professional development or career transition.

Application Process

Please note: only two funded places are available per course. These places will be awarded to two successful applicants chosen from all submissions. All applicants will be considered. Places are limited, and applying does not guarantee a funded place.
