The Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) is pleased to welcome two new members to its Industry Advisory Committee (IAC), Josie Philips and Paul Coyte.
As CODA continues its work supporting the growth of a world-class Australian decommissioning industry, these two new members bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise that will further enhance the committee’s capabilities
Josie Philips has over 15 years of experience in the global energy industry and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Aberdeen. In 2019, Josie was appointed as Petrofac’s Regional Director in Perth. She was responsible for the strategic development and ongoing operations of the business in Australia and New Zealand, with expanded accountability for decommissioning activities across the wider Asia Pacific region. Under her leadership, Petrofac secured the Northern Endeavour Decommissioning Phase 1 project, a significant achievement which sees Petrofac accountable for the safe ongoing operations and maintenance of the facility and the decommissioning and demobilisation of the Northern Endeavour FPSO. Josie’s leadership was critical in securing this landmark project, and her experience in managing complex operations will undoubtedly benefit CODA.
Paul Coyte is the fourth-generation family member of Hayes Metals, a group of recycling and smelting companies with facilities in Australia and New Zealand. With more than two decades of experience in the recycling industry, Paul has made significant contributions to the development of several technologies to recycle complex materials, including the recycling of SURF cables (Subsea Umbilical, Risers, Flowlines). In his role as the group’s Managing Director, Paul has been instrumental in focusing on the oil and gas industry to achieve commercially viable recycling outcomes for its by-products. Paul’s deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities will provide valuable insights and guidance to CODA.
CODA also extends its appreciation to the outgoing members of the IAC, Brian Matthews and Ineke Reyboz, for their invaluable contributions to the committee during their tenure. Their dedication and expertise have been invaluable in guiding CODA’s efforts in addressing the challenges associated with decommissioning in Australia.
Furthermore, CODA acknowledges the continued support of its other IAC members, David Banks of Santos, Harvey Johnstone of IOGP, Richard Perry of ExxonMobil Australia, and Jay Southwell of Baker Hughes, who have been pivotal in providing ongoing guidance and proficiency to the committee. Their commitment and dedication to CODA’s mission have been instrumental in advancing the organisation’s objectives.
As CODA embarks on new endeavors to promote sustainable decommissioning practices in Australia, the addition of Josie Philips and Paul Coyte to the IAC will undoubtedly strengthen the committee’s expertise and insights. CODA is confident that their contributions will enhance the organisation’s capabilities and contribute to developing a collaborative and sustainable decommissioning industry for Australia.
